International Arbitration Enters the University of Malaw

At the invitation of the University of Malawi, Zhang Zhijie, Chairman of the African International Arbitration Center, visited the University of Malawi for inspection and exchange on April 19, 2024. A friendly and effective negotiation took place in the conference room of the University of Malawi Law School.
Chairman Zhang Zhijie gave an explanation on the establishment and future development of the African International Arbitration Center. The Dean of the Law School at the University of Malawi gave a detailed introduction to the development and current situation of the school. The University of Malawi Law School enjoys a high reputation in Africa, leading the region in teaching standards and student literacy. At present, there are more than 300 undergraduate and graduate students in the college. However, due to the low income of some students, not only tuition fees, but also their own basic living expenses, some students are unable to complete their studies smoothly. Despite the help provided by the school, they are still unable to get rid of the current situation. At the same time, the dean of the law school gave an introduction to the subject setting, faculty, and other aspects. He hopes that the African International Arbitration Center can utilize its platform and resource advantages to promote the development of law schools.
After discussions, exchanges, and friendly consultations, both parties have reached a preliminary intention to cooperate on education assistance and on-the-job training of composite talents between different legal systems.
In order to support impoverished students at the University of Malawi Law School in successfully completing their studies, as well as to cultivate outstanding legal talents and future leaders, and further motivate students to study hard, Chairman Zhang Zhijie, on behalf of the African International Arbitration Center, stated that the establishment of the University of Malawi Law School。

  Both sides also exchanged views on how to strengthen the construction and theoretical research of the arbitration discipline in the next step. During this period, Chairman Zhang Zhijie also issued an appointment letter for arbitrators at the African International Arbitration Center to the First Vice President and Dean of the Law School of the University of Malawi.

  After the negotiation, the leaders and teachers of the law school accompanied Chairman Zhang Zhijie and his delegation to visit the student classrooms, library, and mock court.
